Join Fospice to Comfort and Protect
Some animals arrive at the shelter each year and are in an advanced stage of illness, injury, or age, and medicine is not a remedy, but a tool for comfort. These animals are still well enough to find a foster, but may not have longer or more predictable lives like the other animals at the shelter.

We truly believe that these animals, when not suffering, deserve the opportunity to find a resting home to kick up their paws for the remainder of their days with the beautiful love of a foster.

During this time, the shelter provides all of their medical exams and medications, and their foster is only responsible for the gift of giving much-needed love and security.

​
The time required by a Fospice patient will vary based on their life expectancy and their wellness. While your foster is with you, we will arrange all appointments with the family, and the veterinarian will know the family as well as the shelter. Fospice dogs and cats are so very special, and the shelter will pay their needed expenses so that you can focus on the family!

Fospice pets may be in care from 1 Month to 1 Year

Fospice residents are generally low-key and calm

Food and supplies can be provided for you from the shelter

All medication management is handled at the shelter at no-cost to your family

When you Fospice passes, the shelter will work with you to decide final steps
