Puppies and Kittens between 4-8 weeks are ready to meet the world and get into trouble. Your job is to help them keep their paws on the right track heading toward their forever family. We still start with BABY STEPS!

Weaning
Weaning in some cases is very easy, in others, it takes a finer touch. However, solid growth and nutrition are critical for kitten and puppy development. Puppies should always have access to their food dish without being bullied, and there should always be enough food for all to eat eagerly with kittens. Continuing to track weights will let you know if anyone falls behind. Remember feeding separately in pups can greatly benefit them.
Potty Training
Kittens are ready to explore the litter box at only three weeks old, and many puppies will begin the slow training process between 3-4 weeks. It is very important in this stage to offer lots of reminders, and encouragements, and ensure pups are only using the bathroom inside due to the potential for picking up contagious illness.

Safety and Medical Checks
During their stay in foster, until fosters reach 8 weeks old or have spay/neuter surgery, they visit the shelter once per two weeks for booster shots and standard routine care like parasite and flea treatments. It is critical that nothing goes wrong with little ones, because it may have a bigger impact than on an adult.
