GRAND-PAWS

We don’t believe old dogs and cats need to learn new tricks. They have put a lot of time and energy into being loving companions and now they deserve a little rest and love.

We are asking our partners in

caring to take the next step by

providing the seniors in their communities with the opportunity to open their arms to a senior foster as a community resident.

Senior pets may be fostered until they are prepared for adoption, or they may remain at the facility with your amazing community of loving caregivers for the remainder of their lives.

There are so many reasons to foster!

  • Pets help ease the anxiety involved with transitioning into an assisted living community. Many seniors think they’ll lose their independence and sense of identity, and they’re anxious about moving into a new environment after they’ve been comfortable in their current environment for so long. Having a pet can help reduce that anxiety, and serve as a familiar constant when they’re in a state of change.

  •

  • Caring for a pet provides a sense of daily routine. We all have routines that keep us stable and happy. While moving into an assisted living community can be a challenge, having a pet to take care of helps seniors establish more structure, and it gives every day a sense of purpose. None of us want to feel aimless, and caring for a pet is a great addition to a daily routine that brings both happiness and comfort.

  •

  • Fostering a pet long-term as a group helps residents bond with one another. There are so many cats and dogs who need loving homes and having a community pet is a great way for people to come together and get to know each other better and share in life-changing and lifesaving.

  •

  • Pets are a constant when nothing else is. Having a pet can give people in need love, kindness, comfort, and reliable consistency which greatly improves their quality of life and the quality of life for animals in need.

While Senior Pets are with our Partners all medical care is covered by SACC!
